TEXT 5 Z 14
SUNSHADE
No, you cannot be Sunshade and if I ever
Thought so, I surely was mistaken.
You would never raise the goblet of rivers to your lips
You cannot! I weep no longer, I have renounced that!
For several days now you have not made your bed
In the morning – and besides – as though you had slept through
For years – perhaps because I, the Moon-man, would sow
Sunflower seeds into my valleys and become
A Sun-man all to myself? What then would
Did the eternal bards and poets work through the nights?
Could they not celebrate me in their verses,
What would Juliet's walnut eyes be afraid of?
