Antonín Deliš: A writer of freedom, introspection, and narrated universes
My journey to writing was never just about words – it was about searching, about discovering worlds that I wanted not only to describe, but also to create. Although I formally studied film and television production management, directing, and screenwriting, which gave me a solid foundation for understanding narrative and story structure, my true writing stems from the desire to explore unlimited possibilities. It was never about a plan or a method, but about a natural immersion into worlds where I could lose and find myself again.
My writing has been influenced not only by books, but also by visual storytelling. Among screenwriters, I am inspired by Korean creators, especially Park Hae Yeong, whose stories have struck me with their subtle emotionality and deep character development. From the literary world, I have been drawn to a peculiar mix: Michael Ende, whose Nekonečný příběh taught me to create worlds that are not bound by physical rules, Marina Tsvetaeva, which in its texts combined poetry and introspection, and Agatha Christie, who masterfully captured the dynamics of interpersonal relationships and the desire to understand hidden truths. In her own special way, I was also influenced by Miriam Margolyes, her individuality and ability to authentically convey her own stories.
Writing as a Journey of Freedom
Writing is a manifesto of freedom for me. I don't follow any rules because I believe stories shouldn't be shackled by expectations. My memoiristic extravaganza is thoroughly imbued with this approach – it is a space where I can play with words, imagery, and emotions. In ArtFork I have set myself the goal of creating an entire universe – not just a world of characters and plots, but also its language, culture, and philosophy. This desire for total immersion in creation defines me as an author who seeks authenticity in every detail.
Comparisons and Influences
Comparisons to other authors are something I cannot judge myself, because I am not a "reader in the true sense of the word." I tend to livebooks rather than just read them. Consequently, inspiration becomes something fluid, reflecting my own journey and experiences. Nevertheless, a combination of Michael Ende's dreamlike imagination, Marina Tsvetaeva's introspective depth, and Agatha Christie's literary craftsmanship is reflected within me.
Manifesto of Creation
My goal is not just to tell stories, but to create experiences. I want my books to be a place where the reader can get lost in order to find something new—whether it is questions, emotions, or sheer wonder. My work is characterized by an effort to connect introspection with imagination, to create stories that are universal yet bear my personal imprint.
What does my writing offer you?
If you pick up my book, you will enter a world that invites you to discover. I do not present definitive answers, but give space to questions, searching, and emotions that can touch you on the deepest level. My stories are not just about words—they are about an encounter with what is familiar and unfamiliar to us, about an experience that you will take away with you.
Every text I write is a reflection of my personal journey. It is a dialogue between me and you, the reader. Whether you are looking for introspective depth, imaginative worlds, or simply a story that will absorb you, my books offer you just that: the chance to lose yourself so that you can find yourself.
