For years, the Czech nation has been entertained by a viral video that has one thing in common with me: I am its main protagonist, even though I thus detract credit from the caller who managed to get through to a Call.tv format show's contest line – without him, this video wouldn't exist.
I actually kind of suspect why the nation is amused. Finally, something is actually happening on TV again. It was similar with another viral video: "Aleš, are you gay? Yes, I am," which the author has most likely deleted. I don't think anyone in all of Czechia has had a better public coming out.
That video comes from a broadcast that took place sometime in late 2013. And now, after several years – yes, ten years – your children are discovering this video, and most of all Rytmus and so a wave of messages is coming my way about how this video is spreading and whether I've seen it.
But basically I don't mind at all, let people have fun, right? I know what happened behind the scenes, how the control room fell asleep and blah blah, and also that I tried to smooth the situation over for the sake of my female colleague whom I hold in high regard.
However, the greatest gift of this video for me is that now I can simply recognize who means well with me and who is just having fun at my expense.
And so I would like to thank the king RYTMUS, who shared the video on his Instagram account after all these years and thus helped crowds of people improve their mood. Thanks, Rytmus, thanks. But I would rather you shared THIS video, so the nation can have fun rather with my bad English and my attempts at music. Maybe you'll help me sell a book that way, which would come in handy since I'm just recovering from an injury.
I will use this article for one more thing, so it's good for something. I'll insert a gallery of pictures from old broadcasts here – as a fond memory of the good times when I was still young, full of energy and eager to work. And to all the nitpickers who still have objections to working at Call.tv, I have the same message after all these years: Do not despise work that humbles the heart.
